Terms of use

These terms cover your use of the Sidekick Tutor browser extension and service ("Sidekick"), run by Long Nguyen in Australia ("we"). By installing or using Sidekick you agree to them. You must be 18 or over to use Sidekick.
What Sidekick does
Sidekick explains the page, lecture or document you have open and answers your questions about it, using AI from Anthropic. AI can be wrong. Check anything important against your course material, and use the timestamps and page references Sidekick gives you to do that.
Study honestly
Sidekick is a study aid. You are responsible for following your university's and your course's rules on AI tools, including in assessments. Don't use Sidekick to cheat. On graded quiz pages Sidekick gives hints rather than answers, but that doesn't make every use allowed. We may suspend access that is used for academic misconduct or that breaks these terms.
Your material
Lecture recordings, transcripts and readings belong to their owners, usually your institution. Use them only as your institution allows. Sidekick sends them to the AI only to answer your question, and does not keep them.
Fair use
Don't abuse the service: no automated or bulk requests, no attempts to get around the plan limits, no reselling, and no attempts to break or overload the service. What you send must also follow Anthropic's Usage Policy.
Plans, billing and cancelling
- The Free plan includes a weekly number of questions. Free questions may also be limited on shared networks, and we may pause them for a day under very heavy load.
- Pro includes a monthly number of questions. A question that sends a large document counts as more than one, as shown in the extension.
- Pro is a subscription, billed monthly or yearly through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record and handles tax. It renews automatically until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time using the link in your receipt email. Pro stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Plan limits are shown in the extension and on our website. We may change prices or limits for future billing periods; we'll tell you before a change affects you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
Refunds and your consumer rights
If you're not happy with Pro, email us within 14 days of a payment (your first one or a renewal) and we'll refund that payment in full, no questions asked. If something isn't working, email us and we'll try to fix it.
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those rights, or the consumer rights you have under the laws of your country.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Sidekick running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. Lecture players and websites change, and some features may stop working on some sites. We may update Sidekick or change features.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, and apart from the rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Ending
You can stop using Sidekick at any time by uninstalling it and cancelling any subscription. We may end access for serious or repeated breaches of these terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
